Hail Damage: No Sight Unseen

NAME: Dale

CLAIM TYPE: Hail Damage

LOCATION: Roof

ESTIMATE

Before: $177 Settled: $38,756.90

THE SITUATION

The insurance company said there was no damage to the roof. The first estimate was for $177 where the original adjuster found damage to the siding, gutters, and fence. The insurance company hired an engineer where they claimed no damage to the roof in their report.

At Midwestern, we immediately became involved and emailed the insurance company pictures demanding they have an adjuster meet with us and the engineer to look at the roof. We circled some of the damage showing the adjuster and the engineer plainly. The engineer claimed the sun light had changed in the last few minutes allowing our team to better see the damage from what he could see only a few minutes earlier.

THE SOLUTION

Luckily, the adjuster was not happy with the engineers comment and agreed with our team about the damage to the roof. The insurance company ended up agreeing on replacement of the roof and the claim was settled for $38,756.90

“My insurance company initially looked at the roof and agreed to only $177 worth of damage. The insurance company hired an engineer to represent them…Midwestern was able to show the engineer the damage and negotiated the claim to replacement of the entire roof!”

CLAIM TYPE: Hail Damage

LOCATION: Roof

ESTIMATE

Before: virtually $0 Settled: $14,269.63

THE SITUATION

The insured had minor damage to his roof and was unlikely to settle a claim after a hail storm. Midwestern explained that due to minor implications, it would be rare to get the insurance company to agree on a full roof replacement. Since, he had a wood shake roof, the goal was to get as close as possible to a new asphalt roof since there was damage to other areas on the roof valley metal.

THE SOLUTION

The claim started at practically no damage to the dwelling. After Midwestern’s involvement, the claim was settled at $14,269.63. After fees, the insured got a new roof and didn’t have to come out of pocket that much more than the deductible.

“My insurance company significantly undervalued the hail damage to my wood shake roof. Jason’s help in the appraisal process nearly doubled my insurance payment so that I was able to afford a full roof replacement rather than settle for a patch repair.”
